Happy
Happy

Thanksgiving is a daily practice for me.  Well, not the food part…but the gratitude.  I’m grateful to be Alive.  I’m grateful to Love and be Loved.  I’m grateful that I live in a country where I’m Free to Express myself (especially when I go TMI).  And I find that the more I am grateful and count my blessings, the happier I am.

A year ago today, I was recovering from my reconstruction surgery (The Booby Fairy did an awesome job by the way), and the thought of a turkey breast on my plate was enough to make me puke (especially since mine were in a bucket somewhere in a pathology lab).  But this year, I look forward to the feast and being able to take care of those who took care of me last year.

Besides being Cancer Free, the girls starting Kindergarten, and CURVE, one of the highlights of 2014  has been my partnership with the brand new Blue Élan Records.  I was their first artst, and the label has just recently they signed their second:  the legendary Jack Tempchin.  “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and “Slow Dancin'” are just two of his chart topping hits.  Of course I’m salivating at the thought of writing with such a master of the craft.

It’s because of Blue Elan that I was able to make a video for “Heels Over Head” , the first single off CURVE.  Our big push at radio starts in January.  You can help our cause by liking, commenting and sharing the video as well as spreading the word in social media.  I had such a blast making this video with director D!gby, producers Richard Kidd & Paul Yurick, and an OUTSTANDING crew – make sure to read the credits!

I have so much more in store for you – some Holiday songs coming shortly AND another video that I shot with the incredibly talented director Stacey K. Black (thank you Kevin Bacon for that referral!).  AND I’m touring in 2015 🙂  So stay tuned!

Speaking of holidays, I just put all of my back catalog cd’s on SALE at CD Baby (Every Rise & Fall, Wobble with the World, Angels & Demons, Smash and See Red).  They are buy 1, get the second for 50% off.  From what I’m told, they will be doing 1 cent shipping December 1-3.   If you’d like CURVE autographed, you can purchase it by clicking HERE (US orders only).  Here’s the best deal of all – you can purchase CURVE and my entire back catalog (autographed) for $35 now through December 5.

Thanks for visiting my corner of cyberspace and for your support.  Wishing you the most wonderful of Thanksgivings ~ enjoy your family, friends, food and this amazing planet.  Hug more, laugh louder, love deeper and for goodness sake, SING.  My 5 year old daughters just told me I should add DANCE to that request. 🙂

One year ago today, on July 8, 2013, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Today, I am Healthy, Happy, a bit emotional…and I don’t need to wear a bra. Ever again. get-attachment

I am packing up for my second leg of my summer tour with the Bacon Brothers which takes me back to PA (Sellersville Theater on 7/11) and then on to New York (City Winery on 7/14 and 7/15).  I can’t even begin to explain how incredibly satisfying it is to share the songs I’ve written over the last year with an audience.  After the show, I am honored to meet so many survivors and care givers who were touched by my music.  As an artist, I am always encouraged and propelled by the notion that music heals, unites and speaks to us when words fail.  I love kicking back and watching the Bacon Brothers when my set is over.  I’m watching my friends pour out their hearts, share their stories, and bring joy to so many people.  We’ve worked together for 16 years now, and I am so grateful and honored to be able to share the road with them.

get-attachment-2On the home front, Jette and Perry start Kindergarten this August and I will be home in time to take them to their first day of school.  They are enlightening, inspiring, hilarious, challenging, and heart warming.   Jette’s songwriting is mind blowing, and she shuns the idea that songs should be between 3 and 4 minutes.  Her masterpieces are about 10-15 minutes in length and do NOT interrupt her.  Perry is the first to grab the microphone at kid’s karaoke, and her favorite song to sing is “Everything is Awesome!”

Chip built us a beautiful studio (Man Cave?) and he’s been hiding away writing songs and producing tracks.  We did all of the drums for my new record at our own Underland Studio.

It’s been a hot and humid summer in Los Angeles ~ feels like a sauna.  I projected my own discomfort on my cat and gave him a “lion’s cut” today to get rid of the fleas and make him feel cooler.  I just spent an hour trying to take his picture, but I think he’s traumatized and won’t come out from under the bed.

Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July and enjoy the rest of summer.  Over the next three months, I will be gearing up for the release of “CURVE” on October 7th.  You can pre-order the cd by clicking here.  All the pre-orders really help with momentum for an indie-artist, so thank you in advance if you are so inclined to show your early support.   I will post a stream for some of the tracks soon, so stay tuned!

My best fur friend

Oliver has been my best fur friend since 1995.  The first time I brought a guy back to my apartment after adopting Oliver, he knocked over the roses, emptied my kitchen pantry onto the floor and generally made a war zone out of my living space.  Yeah, he LOOOOOOVED me bad. He protected, he soothed, he nurtured and he understood.  He knew everything about me and still thought I was pretty cool.  Go figure.  As I explained to Perry and Jette (now 2 years 9 mos.), Oliver went to Heaven to be with his sisters Kahlua and Mojo, and he’s not coming back.  And as Jette explained to me, “Oliver went Home.”

I know Chip wants a break from having cat fur in his food, but I don’t know how long I can go without a pet.  He says “you’ve got KIDS for G-d’s sake – why do you need another cat?”  Because I think that people who don’t have pets are…weird. Are you still reading?  Are you one of those who does not have a pet?  OK, maybe “Weird” is harsh.  I just think it’s a warm fuzzy to have a pet and you are more likely to be a cold prickly if you don’t have one.  Note that I italicized “more likely” so that you can remove yourself from the lump if need be.  If you don’t have a pet, I hope you at least have a plant that you water more than once a month.

I’m sad.  I just wanted to try to write it out of me but I know that’s not going to happen tonight.  Kiss your pets for me and hold them extra close tonight.
